Why we're tracking this person: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has been one of the Republican Party's most quotable and controversial figures for two decades. He may be attracting even more attention as time goes on. In recent weeks, for example, he's said that to understand President Obama you need to understand "Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior." That was, in the opinion of Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, a sign that Gingrich believes "that our culture and values are also threatened from within — by black and brown people who demand that they, too, be given a voice in defining that culture and those values."
