A Promising Year For The GOP In Georgia

Johnny Isakson (R), who was first elected in 2004, is seeking his second term. If this were, say, 2008, he might have had his hands full with state Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond (D), who was recruited by national Democrats to make the race. And there have been questions about Isakson's health; he was hospitalized this spring with a bacterial infection. But the GOP brand looks strong in Georgia this year, and Isakson should win comfortably. -Ken Rudin
