Democrats' Challenge To Grassley Likely To Fall Short

Charles Grassley (R), first elected in 1980, is seeking a sixth term. Democrats are trying to make the argument that Grassley, who is accustomed to winning landslide re-elections, has lost a step and is vulnerable. Indeed, they probably have their strongest challenger yet in trial lawyer Roxanne Conlin. But if Grassley is no spring chicken -- he's been in public office since Eisenhower was president -- Conlin is hardly a new face herself, having been her party's gubernatorial nominee in 1982. -Ken Rudin
