Feingold Feels GOP Heat In Wisconsin

Russ Feingold (D), first elected in 1992, is seeking a fourth term.

Earlier this year, when former Gov. Tommy Thompson (R) said he would not run, the feeling was that Feingold was assured of another term. But few Democrats anywhere seem assured of victory this year, and now that's certainly true of Feingold, who finds himself in an unexpectedly tough battle with political novice and millionaire businessman Ron Johnson. In the year of the outsider, Johnson has a shot at victory, which was considered unthinkable not long ago. -Ken Rudin
