When Thao Nguyen played solo at NPR's office for her Tiny Desk Concert, she had a sort of uncommon, unfettered energy that immediately made new fans. If she could captivate a bunch of a office folks with just an acoustic guitar and her sharp, exuberant voice, there's no telling what she'll conjure with her backing band, The Get Down Stay Down, at NPR Music's day party at SXSW. The band will played live in concert from The Parish in Austin, Tex., on March 19.

Nguyen's latest album, We Brave Bee Stings and All, is wide-eyed and mischievous. With a hint of vulnerability, it's the perfect album to pick apart, yet it's just as enjoyable as a summer soundtrack for chasing butterflies and sipping sweet tea on the front porch.
