There's a constant sense of discovery in The Books. Scavenging voice machine tapes, speech records and other found sound from thrift stores, Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong manipulate unusual sources to create something between songs and rescued memories. Even when found sound isn't the central focus, the duo captures the wistfulness and humor of its regular content in this concert, recorded Sept. 4 at the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival in Monticello, N.Y., here joined by Gene Back taking on keyboards, violin and guitar.

Special thanks to WFMU for the recording of these ATP concerts. For more information, visit wfmu.org.
