January 10, 2012 Hear BélO bring Caribbean undercurrents to socially conscious songs as he performs live in concert.
By Anastasia Tsioulcas
A fresh voice from Haiti, BélO brings Caribbean undercurrents to socially conscious songs like "Ti Moun Yo," which calls on his country's leaders to not forsake Haiti's street children, and "Famm Kreyol," in which he hails the women who struggle daily to provide for their families.
Ladling a heavy dose of reggae into his evening-opening set, BélO brought huge warmth and a compassionate spirit to the start of a cold January night in New York.
