Born in London to Ugandan parents, Michael Kiwanuka was brought up in a home from which music was largely absent. His first introduction to rock — Nirvana, Radiohead — arrived as he began to hang with the skater kids in his north London suburb during his early teenage years. Later, Kiwanuka stumbled across a soul compilation, and was enthralled by Otis Redding's studio talkback discussions with his engineer while recording an outtake version of "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay." From that point on, Kiwanuka says he resolved to make music that sounded raw and authentic.

His full-length debut, Home Again, makes good on that promise, singing heartfelt soul that seems to look back in time while still charging forward.

Set List:
  • You'll Give Everything But Love
  • Tell Me A Tale
  • Bones
  • I'm Getting Ready
