Jake Bugg: From High School To The Top Of The WorldWFUV On-Air: Music Discovery Starts Here

In the latest entry from the "old soul, young body" file, here's U.K. musician Jake Bugg, performing his incredibly catchy song "Two Fingers" live in WFUV's Studio A.

While most of Bugg's school friends were listening to Black Eyed Peas and Dizzee Rascal, he was soaking up the music of Don McLean and Bob Dylan. He couldn't explain why he liked that kind of music, only that he was drawn to it, so he began playing guitar at age 12. By the time he was 14, Bugg was writing his own songs. Now 18, he has a full-length album in the U.K. and an EP out here called Two Fingers.

Bugg had been playing at small clubs in his hometown of Nottingham when he decided to audition for a festival called "Glastonbudget" — a tribute to the much larger and more popular U.K. music festival, Glastonbury. Glastonbudget ended up turning him down, but a day after that rejection he received a phone call from the BBC, asking him to play the "introducing" stage at Glastonbury. Since then, Bugg has been hurtling toward stardom, pausing just long enough to perform for us here.
