What issue is on your mind this election? What happened in your life to give you special understanding of that issue?
What convictions guide your politics?
What could someone do or say to get your vote?
No personal attacks: No name calling, slander, comparisons to notorious dictators-you get the idea. Under no circumstances should you post anything that could be taken as threatening, harassing, sexist or racist.
Don't use obscenities: Remember, this is a public forum. We want everyone to feel comfortable participating.
Original material only: Please post only your own words, images and music. If you post copyrighted material, we may have to remove your commentary.
No recruiting or promotion: This is not a place for advertising, promotion, recruiting, campaigning, soliciting or proselytizing.
Please respect people's privacy: Don't reveal personal contact information.
Think about your work, friends and family, and tell of the things you know that no one else does. What problems do you face? What lessons have you learned? Speak in the first person and use language that's natural for you.
Tell us a story:
A story-a narrative-comprises a sequence of events. What events focused you on the issue you're addressing or helped you see what needs to be done?
Your statement should be no longer than two minutes when spoken aloud. If you're writing it, that's about 300 to 400 words. Stick to one idea or issue: Two minutes is a short time. It's a good idea to state your subject at the top of your commentary. If you can't state it in a sentence or two, consider narrowing your theme.
Your commentary is about your life and ideas, so feel free to show your personality. Use your medium of choice to full effect. If you're making a video or audio, let us see or hear the people and places in your story. Write a song. Stage a scene. At the same time, don't feel you have to create a masterpiece. Be direct and honest.
Please don't use this as a platform for endorsing or attacking candidates or recruiting votes.
Focus on you and what you believe, not on what's wrong with others.
Tag your commentary:
When you submit your commentary, be sure to "tag" it with relevant keywords. These will help others to find your statement.
