Jobless In April

State unemployment rates increased in 18 states and the District of Columbia in April, the Labor Department said on Friday. Jobless rates were down in 21 states since the previous month, and rates were unchanged in 11 states. Forty-four states lost jobs in the month, and six states added jobs.
