Antibiotics & Ear Infections
November 26, 1997 -- Should parents seek antibiotics to treat ear
infections among their kids? In this country, most doctors will prescribe
a course of the drugs for those ailments. And this year, approximately 25
million children will visit doctors for treatment of ear infections, which
are among the most common childhood illnesses.
But, as NPR's Joe Palca
reports,
many doctors now say the routine use of antibiotics is a mistake.
