Carrollton

Neighborhood Description: Carrollton is located in Uptown New Orleans. Loyola University and Tulane University are a few blocks away, and many students, faculty and staff members live and spend time in the area. It has many coffee houses, restaurants, businesses and bars. The historically majority African-American part of Carollton is called the "Black Pearl."

Damage After Katrina: Carollton saw some flooding, but most of the damage to houses and cars in the area was caused by wind. The neighborhood faired well compared to others, and residents quickly returned to the area after Katrina.
