Dutch Rider Wins Individual Dressage
Riders from the Netherlands and Germany refused to give the rest of the world a chance in individual dressage competition Saturday.
Winner Anky van Grunsven of the Netherlands won the event aboard Rusty. But the next three places went to Germany's Isabell Werth (silver), Ulla Salzgeber (bronze) and Nadine Capellmann. Dutch riders Coby van Baalen and Ellen Bontje finished fifth and sixth.
Susan Blinks of the United States was in eighth place, with teammate Christine Traurig winding up eleventh.

About Dressage
In dressage, horse and rider execute a series of set movements at three paces -- walk, trot and canter -- over two rounds. A third round of freestyle competition is individually choreographed with a musical background.

Germany has won the team and individual dressage gold for the past four Olympics.
Dressage competition will be held from September 23 to October 1 at the Equestrian Center at Horsley Park.
