Dutch Pair Go 1-2 in Individual Jumping
The individual competition came down to a three-way jumpoff -- and Jeroen Dubbeldam of the Netherlands prevailed Sunday. Teammate Albert Voorn was second, and Khaled Aleid of Saudi Arabia settled for bronze.
About Jumping
More accessible to most spectators, the jumping portion of the equestrian competition is a guaranteed tension-builder. Horse and rider make their way over 15 obstacles, from triple bars to water jumps and leaps over simulated stone walls. They're timed as they go and suffer penalties for failing to clear a hurdle cleanly, for taking jumps out of order or for those occasions when the horse refuses a jump.
Germany won the individual and team jumping events in Atlanta.

Jumping events ran from September 23 to October 1 at the Equestrian Center at Horsley Park.
