Left, Dr. Leke Pitan, Lagos' Honorable Commissioner for Health, and Dr. Jide Idriss, Lagos' Permanent Secretary for Health. Thirty years of on-again, off-again military rule have left the country's infrastructure in shambles and health care severely underfunded. Rule is now democratic in the country, and Pitan and Idriss are charged with trying to modernize the Lagos' public health system.
