Terri Minatra

Terri Minatra became the NPR General Counsel and Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs in 2012. She also acts as the Chief Ethics Officer for NPR.

In her previous role as Senior Deputy General Counsel, she worked closely with the General Counsel to manage and direct all legal services for NPR as well as coordinate with business units and project teams to achieve corporate strategy.

Since arriving at NPR in 2010, Minatra has worked to build infrastructure among people and systems in the Office of the General Counsel. She led the project to implement an electronic document management system, increased communications and built relationships throughout the division and with other parts of the organization. She also served as interim General Counsel for a period.

With more than 25 years of experience, Minatra's particular areas of expertise include intellectual property and licensing, live events, labor and employment, and complex business transactions. From 2004-2009, Minatra served as senior counsel at Hit Entertainment specializing in the company's licensing programs for consumer products and live entertainment events for leading children's brands including PBS.

For nine years prior to HIT, Minatra worked as a sole practitioner attorney advising clients in transactional, labor and employment areas. As legal senior vice president at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN, from 1993-1995, Minatra was a key member of a five-person senior management team responsible for crafting and implementing long term strategic plan as well as management of 24/7 operations. In 1992 and 1993, Minatra work as an associate focusing on employment, corporate structure and governance work at the Hunter, Smith and Davis law firm.

A graduate from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, TX, Minatra earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Stephens College in Columbia, MO.
