Antoine W. van Agtmael

Antoine W. van Agtmael is Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Emerging Markets Management LLC and a director of Strategic Investment Partners. Previously he was deputy director of the Capital Markets Department in the International Finance Corporation, division chief in the World Bank's borrowing operations, managing director of Thai Investment and Securities Company, Ltd, and vice president of Bankers Trust.
He is the author of several books on investing in emerging markets and has taught courses at Georgetown Law Center, Thammasat University, and the Harvard Institute of Politics. He is a director of various investment funds.
He is a Trustee of The Brookings Institution, the Chair of their International Advisory Council and is a member of the Investment Committee. Antoine is on the Board of Trustees of the Washington National Opera, National Public Radio Foundation, and Global Rights. He is also a member of the Yale President's Council on International Activities, and Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) Advisory Council and sits on the board of the American Balalaika Symphony.
Antoine received his undergraduate degree from the Netherlands School of Economics, an M.A. from Yale University and M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School. He and his wife Emily have two children.
