From July 14, 2003:
What Was That Music?
60 Great buttons and the people who pick them:
Audio-only:
Real Audio | Windows Media
Every director has a favorite button, a piece of music that in a pinch can be counted on to fill the moment. At NPR, directors pick the music and each show has a director, or two. This is why the music on say, Morning Edition sounds different from All Things Considered. Each director has their favorite tunes and their own way of choosing music. I asked each director, to pick a stack of their favorite buttons, ones they use over and over. Below is that list of music for you to see and hear. Some of the music heard on NPR's news shows can also be found on the All Songs Considered CD collections.
