Terry Reid's 'River' Gets New Release
Terry Reid's album River was first released in 1973, netting critical acclaim but little commercial success. David Greenberger has a review of a reissue of the album.
Cassandra Wilson's 'Glamoured' Mixes Musical Genres
Grammy-winning singer and composer Cassandra Wilson has made a career out of using her jazz and blues skills to transform pop songs. On her latest album, Glamoured, Wilson applies her rich, husky voice to a variety of musical genres. NPR's Michelle Mercer has a review.
Emmylou Harris: 'Stumble Into Grace'
With more than 25 records released, you might think 56-year-old Emmylou Harris would fall into some sort of rut, or at least lean on successful formulas. Her new record, Stumble Into Grace, turns out to be another ground-breaking record for the singer and songwriter. Reviewer Meredith Ochs says the songs are modern day folk songs that are personal and well crafted.
Music Review: 'Cibelle'
Chris Nickson reviews Cibelle, the
debut album by the Brazilian singer and songwriter of the same name. Cibelle
got her start with producer Suba and now teams up with other producers to
create a world of tradition and electronica.
