We're not quite done here, but welcome anyhow! It's NPR's In Rehearsal a place to watch the creative process unfold, and listen in as musicians from different traditions put their music together. On this edition of In Rehearsal, we're featuring vocalist René Marie. We'll hear why she doesn't imitate Sarah Vaughan anymore. We'll watch her rehearse the jazz standard "Love for Sale." We'll follow along as she brings a new and untested song to her band, and they try to get the groove the way she hears it in her head. And we'll hear them take the song live for the first time, at Blues Alley in Washington, D.C. Copyright 2002 NPR |
