About the Program

		NPR's Jazz Profiles is a weekly one-hour documentary series profiling the legends and legacy of jazz. Hosted by singer Nancy Wilson (left), the program brings to life the vibrant history of the genre through music, interviews and commentary.
		The program was inspired by the comments of musician Barry Harris (left). In 1982, at the sparsely attended funeral of jazz pianist Al Haig, who made important collaborations with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, Harris made this poignant comment: "Sitting here today, I realized that this isn't the time to think about Al Haig. The time to think about Al Haig was while he was still living."

Jazz Profiles is heard on over 200 NPR affiliated stations throughout the country. Consult your local NPR member station for day and time.
