J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, never imagined her characters would be the hottest Halloween costumes this year. In fact, she tries to ignore the fame of her best-selling series of children's books. She hasn't finished writing them yet, and doesn't want the fan-fare to distract her from the story.

So, while millions of children hold their breath for next year's release of the fifth book, Rowling told NPR's Margot Adler that she hides away to consult with Harry, who she says is with her at all times. audio button
