Hollywood Forever
If you're planning a visit to Los Angeles, you might want to swing by The Hollywood Forever Cemetery -- the burial ground of the stars. Since it opened 100 years ago, the cemetery has become the last resting place of the likes of Cecil B. De Mille, Douglas Fairbanks, Tyrone Power and Marion Davies.
The once glorious grounds were neglected by their eccentric owner and by the 1990s, The Hollywood Forever Cemetery suffered bankruptcy and a buy-out. The new owner is now offering a novel product to the mortal, the chance to plan exactly how you will be remembered -- through video biographies.
NPR's Renee Montagne recently toured The Hollywood Forever
Cemetery. Listen to her Morning Edition report.
