Blanca Romero holds up a photo of her 25-year-old son, Wilmer. A local policeman in Santa Elena, El Salvador, he left to try his luck in the United States as an undocumented worker. He died from a cerebral hemorrhage while crossing the oven-like Arizona desert, south of Tucson.
