Cara Gerhard Associate Producer
Cara Gerhard came to NPR in the fall of 1999 as an intern for the Washington Desk. After a brief stint in Cairo (where she studied Arabic and Islam), Cara returned to NPR to produce for Morning Edition. Since then, she's worked on a number of projects -- Mike Shuster's Middle East history series, Susan Stamberg's interview with Ani DiFranco, even a few pieces of her own (who knew Santa had to undergo a pre-employment background check?). Cara graduated from Houghton College with degrees in Communications and Political Science. She got her start in radio reporting for and anchoring newscasts at a small commercial station nestled in Pennsylvania's beautiful Pocono Mountains (still the Honeymoon Capital!). Her life does not, however, revolve around radio... she also loves photography, movies and bargains.
