Bobby Knight

Texas Tech basketball coach Bobby Knight criticized the length of NCAA regulations at the National Press Club, frequently dropping the NCAA manual on the podium to make his point. "This is what's wrong with college athletics," he said of the rulebook. The U.S. Constitution "includes 22 amendments... they've changed NCAA rules 22 times this morning."

Knight also denied having political aspirations, indicating that sports do not provide a good training ground for elected office. "There are very few former coaches or athletes who have jumped from coaching to politics with any success whatsoever," he said.
