At the National Press Club, opera star Placido Domingo expressed disapproval of the way some young opera singers are advancing their careers through record deals rather than opera house performances. "I think when somebody's successful through DVDs...they get their head a little too big," he said. "It might be easy for some of the names of today to be known, but it will be more difficult for them to stay there because they don't have the continuation."
