In her speech at the National Press Club, Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao defended the president's plan to privatize some aspects of social security. "Social Security returns, if you were viewing it from an investor's point of view, [are] abysmally low," she said in her speech. "Most people can invest better and get better results, better returns, if they were to invest that money."
