About Piano Jazz

For more than 25 years, jazz pianist Marian McPartland and her guests have teamed up for an hour of weekly jazz sessions. Whether it's solos, collaboration, reminiscences, or straight talk about influences and style, no two Piano Jazz sessions are ever the same.

More than 500 exciting, talented, jazz professionals (newcomers and all-time favorites) have joined Marian over the years. In fact, Piano Jazz, a production of South Carolina ETV and Radio, has been hailed as the "definitive" place to hear the greats of jazz.

Why? Piano Jazz hits a perfect balance between historical perspective and sheer entertainment, a formula that has made the series the longest-running national performance program on public radio. One of NPR's most widely listened to series, Piano Jazz airs on more than 200 public radio stations in the United States alone!

In addition, Piano Jazz is also heard in Canada and can be heard overseas on NPR's international network, NPR Worldwide. Piano Jazz is heard weekly throughout Europe on the Astra 1B direct-to-home satellite. Also, Piano Jazz can be heard on cable in Vienna, Graz, Zurich, Prague, and nationwide on cable in Denmark, Sweden, and Japan.

In Geneva, Piano Jazz airs Sundays at noon on World Geneva Radio 88.4 FM. In addition, the program is distributed to all overseas US Military AFN stations. For more information, contact your local AFN station or visit the NPR World Wide Web site at www.npr.org/worldwide.
