Thank you to all the PT listeners who entered our Beethoven Symphonies Giveaway Contest. You can read the answers to the trivia questions and the names of the winners below.

  • Which of Beethoven's nine symphonies is the shortest symphony?

         Depending on interpretation, the Eighth and the First were accepted as correct answers.

  • Sir Simon Rattle was music director of what European orchestra before he became director of the Berlin Philharmonic?

         Rattle was Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra from September 1990 until the summer of 1998.

  • What is the name of the Vienna Philharmonic's home venue?

         The home venue of the Vienna Philharmonic is the Musikverein. Golden Concert Hall and Großer Musikvereinssaal were also accepted as correct answers.
