Harris Concert Hall Performance Today makes its annual summer stop high in the Rocky Mountains for the 2003 Aspen Music Festival. Join PT Host Fred Child for a week's worth of concerts, interviews and stories, from the stage of Harris Concert Hall (left).

Featured artists are music director David Zinman, cellist Benjamin Nyffenger, the Calder String Quartet, violinist Alexander Kerr, the duo of David Finckel and Wu Han, and the International Sejong Soloists.

Conductor David Zinman talks about his new scholarship program, and why he brought Benjamin Nyffenegger, a prodigiously talented young cellist from Switzerland, to Aspen. Nyffenegger reveals what he hopes to get ouf of his Aspen experience.

New Fiddlers on the Block
The Calder Quartet is a group of Southern California twenty-somethings on the cusp of moving to New York and launching their career in earnest. Fred talks to them about what it's like to choose a four-way commitment and all that entails.

A World-Class Duo
The husband-and-wife team of cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han are one of the true "dynamic duos" of the classical music world. Aside from their status as world-class performers, Finckel and Wu Han have started Music@Menlo, a new chamber music festival in the Silicon Valley, they run they're own record label called ArtistLed, and they've started a series of audio program notes on CD. Currently teaching Beethoven in master classes at Aspen, this perf-chat lets the students hear their teachers perform for a change.

PT Young Artists Preview
The New York-based International Sejong Soloists plays both string orchestra repertoire and chamber music at an amazingly high and disciplined level, all without a conductor. Plus, their passionate performances are entertaining to hear and watch. The ISS will be PT Young Artists-in-Residence this coming fall.
