moreCows That Type
Story of barnyard animals carrying out collective bargaining.
Weekend Edition Saturday - Jan. 15, 2000

Suggested by Karen, who listens to WUSF in central Florida:

"January, 2000. It was early on a Saturday morning and I was taking my 16-year-old son to a rehearsal (he's a dancer.) That morning we heard the story of "Cows that Type." It's a children's story of barnyard animals carrying out collective bargaining. I pulled up to the dance studio, but neither my son nor myself moved. We listened all the way to the end.

Our favorite part was when the narrator read, "the cows were angry," and one of the people doing sounds responded with a disturbing "MOO!" -- it's still a classic in our home, and our son? He's now a university junior, and he has no problem at all explaining the uses, or pitfalls, of unionizing and collective bargaining."
