A hard-knock odyssey from drug dealer to novelist.

Suggested by Arnie, who listens to WVPE in Elkhart, Indiana:

"I didn't take the turn into my street for fear that once being home, I would be distracted from hearing the rest of the story. I continued driving.

Blak's tale was riviting. It was beautiful to hear Yanier Moore's mortal struggle to maintain a glimmer of hope and to find dignity and meaning in the midst of all that life could heap upon him. There were moments I found it difficult to drive when tears blurred the street. It took a while before i wanted to break the spell and return to my world.

When I finally made it home, I opened npr.org, searched for the story, and played it for my family. After reading the excerpt from Blak's novel through a link found on your site, and having listened to such an intimate portrate of the man, you can be sure I will read his book. Thank-you for sharing this story with us."
