A Botanical Walk in the Woods
Columbia kittentail

Aha! First prize of the day. Synthyris stellata, the Columbia kittentail (the origins of its common name not apparent in this picture), is found on north-facing shaded banks, cliffs and ridges in the west Gorge. We encountered some splendid ones, leaves glistening and flowers way fat.
