To many investors, African countries have long offered risky prospects for business. According to the International Monetary Fund, the region's economic growth increased to 5 percent this year and it’s expected to climb. The Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, sponsored by an investment firm owned by Ebay co-founder, Pierre Omidyar, aims to bolster African business and investment.
