The Masters Have Spoken

The video above is from the NEA Jazz Masters panel discussion today, moderated by A.B. Spellman, and featuring Hubert Laws, David Liebman, Johnny Mandel, Orrin Keepnews and Ellis Marsalis. Tomorrow, the 2011 class of Jazz Masters — the country's highest recognition for jazz — is celebrated in a special concert and awards show. Like XM on satellite radio and WBGO on air, NPR Music will be carrying a webcast of the event — and we'll have live video too. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET for more. UPDATE: This bit of news, featuring the number $250,000, was announced at the concert.
