MGMT Announces New Album For April

Spin Magazine is reporting that MGMT will release a new album on Apr. 13 called Congratulations. The band's primary members, Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, recorded it with the group they normally accompany live, with the help of producer Peter Kember.

Vanwyngarden and Goldwasser tell Spin that Congratulations will "definitely shock people," and that the group "dropped any sort of irony that was on the first record."

The MGMT Web site currently shows a clock ticking down the days to the album's release, along with an animated picture of a beach and lapping waves. Vanwyngarden and Goldwasser say Congratulations was inspired, at least in part, by surfing.
