This week on All Songs Considered, Gilles Peterson of BBC's Radio One shared a cut from his label's most recent release: Owiny Sigoma Band's "Wires" from their self-titled debut album. Brownswood Recordings is a London-based indie label that started in 2006, and has served as one of many platforms for Peterson to share his assorted tastes. I'd like to share another tasty treat off of the comp with you.

Brownswood Electr*c 2 is an assortment of bass heavy cuts that span a range of rhythmic structures and moods. The track "Mood Swings" captures the essence of this collection. Focused around an ethereal lead vocal, 19 year old composer Frederic Robinson moves between frantic, skittering beat patterns, and spacious litterings of pitched wooden blocks throughout the song. Like the album, its a somewhat amorphous smattering of elements, though it never feels out of focus.

Brownswood Electr*c 2 comes out on June 27th, I'll surely have it on heavy rotation this summer.
