After thoroughly depressing everyone with our show on songs that make you cry, it felt like the logical next step to do an episode on the exact opposite: songs that make you feel good. To be fair, I suppose you could still cry over a song that makes you feel good. And we thought of doing a show just on songs that are funny, but that felt too limiting. We're also interested in your personal stories and the music tied to them.
So: Can you remember a time when you were down in the dumps and hearing a song completely picked you up? Is there a song that lifts you up every time you hear it? Is there one that reminds you of a happy moment in your life? Or is there one that just makes you laugh? Tell us about it. You can write your thoughts in the comments section. Or better yet, go to our Soundcloud page and record your story and maybe you'll here it in our next show. Tell us your first name, where you're from, and then your song and story.
Here's a simple one: "In My Life." This song by The Beatles always lifts me up. I can be in the foulest of moods, hear it unexpectedly, and suddenly find myself smiling and feeling good about the world. Apart from being a lovely little melody with sweet harmonies, I think it just makes me stop and appreciate life — the people I've known, the places I've been and all the little things that, for better or worse, have filled my days over the years.
Tell us your own story about a song that makes you feel good.
