The video above, delivered at the DICE (Design Innovate Communicate Entertain) Summit last month by Jesse Schell, an assistant professor of entertainment and technology at Carnegie Mellon, caught my eye on the gaming blog Kotaku.
In it, Schell lays out a completely plausible future in which everything from drinking a Dr. Pepper to walking to work is rewarded with points. The thing is, what sounds like marketing gone awry might actually be cause for optimism.
I won't ruin the warm-fuzzy ending, but I'll echo Kotaku's advice: If you don't have time to watch the nearly-half-hour presentation, at least skip ahead to the 20-minute mark and watch the last 10 minutes. I promise it's worth a look.
