I'm a producer for Digital News at, working primarily with All Things Considered and the national desk. I have worked on projects such as The York Project, which won a DuPont Award; the science of spirituality; and the secret world of confidential informants. I also occasionally write for the website, including a Q&A on the European debt crisis and an essay on my childhood diaries.

I have worked at NPR since April 2008. Prior to that, I was a reporter for The Washington Business Journal, an editor for McKnight's Long-Term Care News, and a fixed-term reporter for Forbes Magazine in its Chicago bureau. I also interned at Time Asia in Hong Kong as part of my master's in magazine journalism at Northwestern University, and worked at a financial publisher in London on a six-month visa. A Michigan native, I got my wanderlust at Kalamazoo College when I studied abroad in Freiburg, Germany.

I'm a recovering soccer-playing addict and decided that I was lucky to get through years of high-level playing without hurting my knees. So I hung up my cleats and now I love to run, rock-climb, practice yoga, go on hikes, play volleyball, snowboard and ride my bike. I also love to camp, read fiction and travel — recent favorite trips include hiking the Andes in Peru and snorkeling in Zanzibar. My partner Adam and I are expecting our first child at the end of November and plan to get married next year.
