Introducing NPR Music For iPhone And iPod Touch

NPR Music App

NPR Music launches its long-awaited iPhone app today. It's only been two and a half years since we launched our music website as it currently stands, with music coverage from around the world of public radio.  That launch has radically changed and expanded the way we present and celebrate great music: When the project began, for example, we had no idea that we'd be streaming entire albums before they're released or inviting artists to perform in our offices for a series of Tiny Desk Concerts, or even that we’d have a passionate blog examining the jazz world.

Now, with the NPR Music app for the iPhone, we have another crucial new vehicle for sharing music with our audience. (And, yes, in case you were wondering, the app offers the ability to listen to audio in the background while you do other things on iPhone 4 and 3GS models.) The new app features live streams from your favorite public radio stations, as well as a generous and constantly updated assortment of live performances, interviews, signature programs and series. We add about 350 new pieces of content a month across all genres, so there'll always be something new to explore and discover.  Please, by all means, download it and give it a whirl — it's free, of course — and let us know what you think.
