Well, Congress is gone, without having voted on the Bush tax cuts, and while they'll be back for a lame duck session after the election, how many will be back in January?  Rahm Emanuel is also leaving, with his presumed target Chicago's city hall.

The sad news is that Ron Elving and I are still here, trying to make sense of an midterm plebiscite that is just over a month away.

Also in this week's episode of "It's All Politics":  Can Obama save the Democrats?  It's hard to make the case he can if, as some polls indicate, the Senate races in Connecticut and West Virginia are close.
