At long last, an Icelandic musician has come forward in order to help the world learn how to pronounce Eyjafjallajokull. That word, which means "Island Mountain Glacier," is the name of the volcano that recently erupted, wreaking havoc on travelers and industries worldwide. Until now, most of us were simply calling it "volcano," or even "Iceland" (hey, we were angry). But now you can watch this video of Eliza Geirsdottir Newman singing and playing her ukulele, sound like a true volcanologist and fall in love with Iceland all over again.
(Newman starts playing about two minutes into the video.)
