MTV Networks announced this morning that they'll be airing a telethon on the evening of Friday, January 22. Not only will it air on a bunch of cable networks including MTV, CNN, HBO, BET, VH1, and CMT, but it will be carried by all the major networks: ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and the CW. Called Hope For Haiti, the two-hour event will air live and commercial-free at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.

Money raised will go to five relief organizations: Oxfam America, Partners In Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, and Yele Haiti Foundation.

George Clooney, who's also a producer, will head up the telethon from Los Angeles, joined by Wyclef Jean in New York and Anderson Cooper in Haiti. They're promising lots of other celebrity appearances (which I'm sure won't be hard to come by), which will be announced as it gets closer.
