NPR Statement Concerning Inaccuracies in Recent Media Coverage

The Russian TV program RT America aired an inaccurate piece about NPR's Planet Money and its co-founder and co-host, Adam Davidson, repeating the assertions of the blog, The Exiled.

Adam has never given a speech for or received compensation from any bank, financial institution or other company that he might cover. They cite, as evidence, two micro-finance conferences at which Adam was a panel moderator. He was not paid. Adam has always met the highest standards of NPR's ethical guidelines.

On a related note, NPR receives support from a vast portfolio of corporate sponsors, philanthropists and foundations. There is a very strict and effective firewall between those who support us and NPR's journalism. All parties understand this principle. Sponsor relations are managed and handled independently of NPR's journalists.
