Each month of the NPR Wall Calendar features original art by renowned illustrators who happen to be NPR fans themselves. In addition to being asked to depict their relationship with NPR, each artist contributes a few words of background describing their inspiration for the creation.
In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing these artist statements alongside the new collection of pieces created for our 2013 calendar, starting today with the cover:
"I consume a massive amount of 'guilty pleasure' media. NPR is one of very few sources of brain-nourishing goodness in my media diet. I wanted to capture that typographically. NPR is the enriching good-for-you stuff that not only helps you feel better for all the other sugary nonsense you indulge in, it makes you want to be better in the future."
