The NPR One experience is now available on the Samsung Gear smartwatch, allowing users to listen to a stream of public radio news, stories, and podcasts without needing to connect to a smartphone or other device.
NPR One for Gear is designed to be a convenient way to stay up to date on stories, shows, and podcasts from NPR and local public radio stations. Through the "just press play" experience, users receive a personalized, continuous flow of stories, including hourly national newscasts, local newscasts when available, and podcast recommendations. There's even an on-demand menu to help users navigate the latest news and find the stories that most interest them.
The app takes advantage of the smartwatch's design features: the rotating bezel can be used to rewind, fast forward, or adjust the volume, and with just a few taps on the watch face, listeners can skip, pause, and select local and national stories.
This new way to experience public radio is available now through the Samsung Galaxy app store.
