Today's TOTN Junkie Segment:  Kentucky GOP Senate Candidates Paul & Grayson

Paul and Grayson buttons

Our conversation in the Political Junkie segment on NPR's Talk of the Nation with leading primary candidates continues this week.  We will have the two leading candidates for the Republican nomination for the Senate in Kentucky, where Sen. Jim Bunning (R) is retiring after two terms.  The candidates:  Secretary of State Trey Grayson and ophthalmologist Rand Paul.

Last week we had Pennsylvania Democrats Arlen Specter, the incumbent, and Joe Sestak, the challenger.  And the week before that, we had Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln and her main challenger in the Democratic primary, Lt. Gov. Bill Halter.  You can listen to the Pennsylvania segment here, and the Arkansas segment here.

A huge thank you to producer David Gura for making these political candidate segments possible.

Also on today's show:  Rep. Alan Mollohan (D) is out after his loss in yesterday's West Virginia primary ... The aftermath of Sen. Bob Bennett's ouster at the Utah Republican state convention last weekend ... With Elena Kagan's nomination, the politics of another Supreme Court appointment ... and a farewell to former Alaska Gov. and Nixon Cabinet official Walter Hickel.

Join host Neal Conan and me every Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET for the Junkie segment on TOTN, where you can often, but not always, find interesting conversation, useless trivia questions and sparkling jokes. And you can win a Political Junkie T-shirt!

If your local NPR station doesn't carry TOTN, you can always hear the program on the Web or on HD Radio. And if you are a subscriber to XM/Sirius radio, you can find the show there as well (siriusly).
